There have been several new mini-series recently – and I’ve already managed to plow through quite a few of them. Some I immediately forgot, others immediately stuck. Here are three new miniseries that really stand out right now – and that are being talked about a lot.
Margo’s Got Money Troubles (Apple TV)
Comedy-drama starring Elle Fanning as Margo, a young woman who becomes pregnant after an affair with her university professor and suddenly finds herself alone with financial problems. To make ends meet, she starts selling sexual content through OnlyFans, while her eccentric father — a former wrestler — comes back into her life and starts coaching her. Charming, colorful and striking at the same time. Streamed on Apple TV.
TO SERIES – Margo’s Got Money Troubles
Half Man (HBO Max)
Half Man is a dark British drama by Richard Gadd (creator of Baby Reindeerif you remember it). The series follows Niall and Ruben, two boys who grow up almost like brothers even though they are not related. The dynamic of the relationship becomes increasingly destructive over the years and the series jumps between their youth and adult lives. When they reunite at a wedding, a violent event causes old traumas and secrets to surface. Masculinity, shame, violence and co-dependence in an unholy mix. Pitch black series – but very good.
The unchosen (Netflix)
The unchosen topping Netflix charts right now. A psychological thriller where we follow the young, married couple Rosie and Adam, who live in a Christian sect isolated from the outside world. When Rosie comes into contact with an outsider, she begins to question her entire life, her beliefs, and the group’s control over its members. A solid 3 out of 5 rated series that fits perfectly when you want to watch something that neither surprises in a bad way nor in a good way (sometimes you actually have days like that..)
