The King of Bahrain, Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, confirmed – yesterday, Thursday – that the “sinful Iranian aggression that targeted its security, stability, and the safety of its people exposed the falsity of those who sold their consciences to the enemy.”
This came during an interview with the media, in which he stressed that “the nation is above all.” He added, “In moments when challenges confront nations and test men’s mettle, the facts appear bright and unambiguous,” noting that the ordeal that Bahrain went through “revealed faces and dropped masks.”
King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa explained that while the armed forces were on alert, “a small group of people emerged and sold their consciences to the enemy, so they extended a hand of cooperation to those who violated the sovereignty of the nation in betrayal that then became treason.”
The Bahraini King considered that cooperation with those who violated Bahrain’s sovereignty is “an unforgivable crime in the customs of the nations and in the conscience of the peoples.”
Regarding the legislative institution, the King expressed his regret that some legislators had sided with those he described as “traitors,” stressing – at the same time – his concern for unity of ranks and the purity of the Parliament.
According to the Bahraini News Agency, the king believes that “whoever is willing to stand with those who attacked the homeland should go to them and join them. There is no place among us for anyone who supports our enemies.”
The Bahraini King also stressed that “these legislators have two paths that have no third, either a clear apology to the loyal and honorable people of Bahrain, or joining those who chose to side with them, with those who left the country and were deported by a just judicial ruling as a result of the heinous betrayal.”
He added, “The Parliament is a trust, and representation is an honor that is not deserved by those whose hands have been stained by betrayal of the homeland. There is no place for them among our honorable people, and they have no honor in representing them after today.”
The King also pointed out that Bahrain “is most in need today of a free and responsible opinion,” stressing that freedom does not mean chaos, does not violate principles, and does not mean, in any way, betrayal of the homeland.
Interference in the affairs of the Kingdom
He stressed the need for Iran to stop interfering in the internal affairs of the Kingdom of Bahrain and the Arab Gulf states, expressing his “deep anger at what happened.”
King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa pointed out that public opinion today stands “as one unit and with one word,” demanding “the expulsion of everyone who cooperated with the sinful aggression,” pointing out that Bahraini citizenship “is not a paper to be granted,” but rather “a covenant and charter, and whoever breaks the covenant has forfeited his right with his own hands.”
On February 28, the United States and Israel began a war against Iran, resulting in thousands of deaths, while Tehran responded by launching missiles and drones towards Israel and what it said were American bases and interests in the region, resulting in civilian casualties. Iranian attacks on the Gulf states also targeted civilian and energy infrastructure and left massive damage.
