The Cultural Committee for the 2026 World Cup approved naming the Iranian national team delegation “Minab 168,” documenting the massacre that targeted Minab School, in which more than 165 civilians, most of whom were children (girls), were killed on the first day of the Israeli-American war on Iran.
Iranian television said that the meeting discussed, in addition to naming the Iranian national team, the preparation of a cultural package that includes encouraging materials for the fans, the production of content through social media platforms, and the formation of a special work team for the fans to keep pace with the World Cup events.

Iranian media reported that the Deputy for Cultural Affairs and Community Sports Development in the Iranian Ministry of Sports and Youth, Hassan Khani, announced while chairing the committee meeting that the national football team’s convoy would participate under the name “Minab 168.”

Khani said, “The tragedy of the Minab School students represents great sadness, and their memory must be commemorated in sports events and the crimes of the Zionist entity and the United States must be reminded.”
The Iranian official considered the World Cup an “exceptional opportunity,” calling for it to be invested optimally, stressing that the people and the government stand by the national team.
