The Syrian News Agency (SANA) reported that “the Israeli occupation forces penetrated, today, Sunday, between the villages of Jamla and Saysun in the Yarmouk Basin in the western countryside of Daraa.”
She pointed out that “an occupation force consisting of about 10 vehicles penetrated the outskirts of the village of Jumla in the Yarmouk Basin area, before withdrawing and positioning itself on the Jumla-Saisun road, near the road leading to Wadi Al-Raqqad.”
There was no immediate comment from the Syrian authorities on the incursion, which comes within the framework of continuing Israeli violations.
These developments come after statements by Syrian President Ahmed Al-Sharaa, in an interview with Anadolu Agency, last Thursday, in which he said that negotiations with Israel have not reached a dead end, but are taking place with great difficulty due to its insistence on being present in Syrian territory.
Continuing violations
During recent months, Israeli violations in southern Syria have been repeated on an almost daily basis, and have included raids and house searches, the erection of checkpoints, as well as the arrest of civilians, including children and sheep herders.
After the overthrow of Bashar al-Assad’s regime on December 8, 2024, Israel announced the collapse of the disengagement agreement concluded between the two sides since 1974, and occupied the Syrian buffer zone.
Since the overthrow of the Assad regime, Israel has launched air strikes on Syria, resulting in the killing of civilians and the destruction of military sites, vehicles and ammunition.
