Six people were killed and two injured as a result of Israeli raids on Lebanon yesterday, Friday, while Hezbollah responded with attacks on occupation targets, including a troop carrier, two military vehicles, a gathering of soldiers, and the downing of a drone, on the eighth day of the ceasefire.

The Lebanese Ministry of Health said that “Israeli enemy raids” on southern Lebanon on Friday resulted in the killing of 6 citizens and the wounding of 2.

For its part, Hezbollah announced – in statements on Friday – that it had carried out five drone attacks on Israeli targets in southern Lebanon, which included targeting two military vehicles, one of which was a Hummer, a gathering of soldiers in the town of Qantara, and an armored personnel carrier in the town of Ramieh, with “confirmed casualties achieved.”

He added that he shot down an Israeli “Hormes 450-Zik” drone with a surface-to-air missile in the airspace of the Al-Housh area near the city of Tyre.

The party explained that it carried out these attacks “in defense of Lebanon and its people, and in response to the enemy’s violations of the ceasefire agreement and its invasion of Lebanese airspace.”

This brings the number of Hezbollah attacks to 19 since the ceasefire took effect eight days ago, two of which targeted two settlements in northern Israel, and the rest targeted Israeli forces in southern Lebanon.

In this context, the Lebanese News Agency reported that violent clashes took place – yesterday, Friday – between Hezbollah fighters and the Israeli army in the city of Bint Jbeil.

On the other hand, the Israeli army claimed – in a statement – that 6 members of the party were killed during those clashes, without any injuries among its ranks.

In the developments, sirens sounded twice in northern Israel – yesterday, Friday – in the settlements of Zarait, Shlomi, Evan Menachem, Bizrait and Shomera in the Western Galilee region, and Yiftah, Ramot Naftali and the Mebuot Hermon Settlement Council in the Upper Galilee region, to warn of a drone infiltration, according to Yedioth Ahronoth newspaper.

Israel’s escalation against Lebanon continued hours after the second preparatory meeting of the two sides, which was held at the White House last Thursday, at the conclusion of which US President Donald Trump announced an extension of the ceasefire between the two sides for an additional 3 weeks.

Talks between Lebanon and Israel began in Washington on April 14 – for the first time in 43 years – under American sponsorship, and led to a 10-day truce that entered into force on the 17 of the same month, in preparation for subsequent direct negotiations.
