Polish star Robert Lewandowski, the Spanish Barcelona striker, moved to the Chicago Fire team of the American Football League (MLS).
Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano indicated – on Sunday – on his Instagram account that Lewandowski had reached an official agreement after his meeting with officials of the American club Chicago Fire, which had sought to include him since last December.
The Polish striker met in Barcelona with Gregg Berhalter, the sporting director of the American club, who made a two-season offer.
Romano said: “The Polish striker agreed to join the Chicago Fire after visiting the club and the city two weeks ago. Lewandowski will sign a two-year contract early next week, ready to start a new chapter in Major League Soccer.”
Lewandowski is scheduled to travel to the United States soon to sign his new contract, and his signing will likely be officially announced next Monday, with the possibility of it being postponed for a few more days.
For its part, the newspaper “Mundo Deportivo” explained that the Chicago Fire, which is looking to compete for the American League title, made an attractive offer to Lewandowski, according to which he will receive an annual salary worth 20 million dollars.
According to the newspaper, the veteran striker is currently spending a vacation with his family in Türkiye to relax and rejuvenate after a busy season with Barcelona.
Lewandowski played for Borussia Dortmund (103 goals), Bayern Munich (103 goals) and Barcelona (120 goals).
