The government has decided on an investigation that will look at how the Swedish language can be strengthened, especially in areas with great exclusion.
The investigation will map and compile knowledge about the position of the Swedish language in different parts of the country, how it affects integration and exclusion, as well as make proposals to improve opportunities and incentives for more people to learn Swedish, the government writes in a press release.
“Knowing Swedish is crucial to being able to establish yourself in society. When people can communicate and understand each other, both cohesion and the opportunity to become part of the community are strengthened,” says Education and Integration Minister Simona Mohamsson (L).
The assignment must be reported no later than August 31, 2027.
