Nico Williams, 23, went on a real blast.

The Spanish midfielder therefore misses the round of 16.

“Today is one of the worst days of my life” he writes on X.

It was frustrating in the match between Spain and Uruguay. Uruguay’s Nicolas de la Cruz got into a situation late, and clipped the legs of Nico Williams, who was left lying down.

The Spanish midfielder has been sidelined with injuries for a long time and was just back in form. But after the tackle, he suffered another muscle injury. In a post on the platform X, he criticizes the campaign.

Yesterday I sustained a new injury after a situation where a colleague acted out of frustration, dissatisfaction and the sadness he felt about his own situation. In my opinion, it was a situation that could have been avoided, as it was completely unnecessary.” he writes.

Williams is now undergoing treatment for his injury, which is considered moderate, writes the Spanish Football Federation.

In his post, Williams writes about how he has struggled with his injuries in recent years.

It has been years of suffering, sadness, uncertainty and anxiety. I didn’t know when I would be able to play without pain again or when I would get a normal life back. I lived with pain in such simple things as going to the toilet, getting in and out of the car or just enjoying everyday life.”

Spain face Austria in the round of 16 on Thursday, July 2, which Williams will miss, but the Football Association says there is still a possibility he could return later in the tournament.
