DALLAS. Viktor Gyökeres had an outburst at the referee in the match against Japan.

Now the attacking star is defended by Sebastian Larsson.

– It will be wrong that just because he is strong and honest they are allowed to toil, pull and kick him, says the assistant national team captain.

Viktor Gyökeres was taken hard by the Japanese defenders and several times the Swede got angry with the referee. He also had a major outburst and shouted “Every fucking time” in a fierce duel where he was awarded a free kick.

The referee then warned Gyökeres, who left the pitch speechless.

– We do what we need to do against Japan to secure promotion. I think if we look at Viktor, I don’t understand why he doesn’t get more free kicks than he gets.

– It is somehow wrong that just because he is strong and honest, they get to toil, pull and kick him. It gets frustrating.

– At the same time, he leads our offensive extremely well. That’s what prompts the goal as he gets a ball in and delivers a ball out to Anthony Elanga late on.

– So all credit to him for that, he says.

Should Viktor Gyökeres step up and lie down a little more?

– No, he is who he is. That should be left to the judge. We don’t want to have that discussion, that players should fold. But we want a tough and honest fight. But there may be those who have other opinions, but he should have received significantly more free kicks with him.
