MOVIE REVIEW. “Jackass” says goodbye to old favorites, cut stunts and middle-aged men with diarrhea.
Not a day too late. The best before date has long since passed on this best of story.
IDIOCY. If you’re a fan of “Jackass”, you don’t give a damn about the rating above. You like it when men subject other men to pranks that often involve extreme violence against the penis, copious amounts of poop and the occasional puke.
“Jackass” was born in 2000 as a television series on MTV and became a cultural phenomenon with its shock humor. The squad of men, led by Johnny Knoxvilleperformed stunts and sattygs against others, each other and themselves. It was a blissful mix of brutal slapstick, hidden camera and idiocy.
Cut out antics
Sometimes it was really fun. Often it was just brain dead. Nothing wrong with that – there can be something liberatingly pointless in schadenfreude that is radically void of purpose.
“Jackass: Best and last” is above all a best-of compilation with old favorites and deleted antics that have never been shown.
Little new has been filmed, but the gang can no longer blame the high level of their boyish streaks on their youth. Johnny Knoxville just turned 55.
Preferably someone’s anus
The humor has rather degenerated. If a sketch doesn’t turn out to be as fun as it’s supposed to be, someone gets kicked in the balls. Alternatively, they do something they find disgusting, preferably with the help of someone’s anus.
In a new scene, the gang plays Twister after drinking laxatives… When men in their fifties are dripping diarrhea on the floor, it’s probably time to think about the chorus.
If you yourself are over 40 and want to dive into the swamp of nostalgia, you will get more out of spending an evening on YouTube than watching this mishmash.
