The 2026 World Cup competitions continue at an accelerated pace, with the picture of the teams that secured passage to the round of 32 beginning to become clear, versus others whose campaign ended early after only two rounds of the group stage.
As of Wednesday, seven teams had succeeded in booking qualification tickets to the next round, including two of the tournament’s hosts, Mexico and the United States, in addition to the champion and runner-up of the previous edition, Argentina and France, respectively, after achieving positive results that enabled them to reach the elimination rounds before entering the third and final round of the group stage.

On the other hand, five teams were confirmed officially eliminated from the competition, after they were unable to collect a sufficient number of points to maintain their hopes of qualifying. The list of bidders includes two Arab teams, Tunisia and Jordan, in addition to Panama, so that the page on its participation in the current edition of the World Cup is closed before reaching the decisive rounds.
With eight of the 12 third-placed teams qualifying for the round of 32, and with the possibility of resorting to goal difference to separate them, many teams will not know their fate until the final whistle of the last group stage match on Sunday.
