Europe is boiling.
And just in time for the weekend, the heat will also visit Sweden.
– It looks like it will be warm throughout the country, says Lasse Rydqvist, meteorologist at Klart.
It’s only June – but much of it Europe has already suffered from extreme heat.
In France, the temperature is expected to rise to around 43 degrees during the week, and in Great Britain there are also warnings of unusually high temperatures.
Now the same warm air is heading north. At the weekend the south can Sweden get temperatures of up to 35 degrees, according to the latest forecasts.
– If it’s sunny on Saturday and Sunday, it’s not at all impossible to reach those levels, says Lasse Rydqvist.
It gets the warmest here
The highest temperatures are expected in south-eastern Sweden, above all in Skåne, Blekinge and eastern Småland.
The forecast is still uncertain, but right now there are many indications that Sunday could be the hottest day ever.
Even Stockholm can get really hot with around 30 degrees, while northern Sweden is expected to have more normal summer temperatures of between 20 and 23 degrees.
SMHI has established warnings for the heat that apply to several places in the country. For most of Götaland and Värmland, the warning applies from and including Thursday at 8 p.m. Sunday.
There is currently a heat warning in Kalmar that is valid until Wednesday at 8 p.m.
Cooler air takes over
However, the heat appears to be temporary and linked to a heat wave that came from Europe.
– Especially during Tuesday and Wednesday, significantly cooler air can take over, says Lasse Rydqvist.
