Charli XCX is in the “worst mental place” she’s ever been.
The reason is largely social media.
Now the pop star is trying to be more offline.
Charli XCX will this summer follow up his hit album “Brat” with “Music, fashion, film” which will be released on July 24. In an interview with Rolling Stone the artist talks about how she has been affected by being in the spotlight in recent years.
She states that the discourse around her can be both “loud and overwhelming” and that scrolling on social media affects her negatively.
– My feelings are very, very unstable at the moment, to be honest, she tells Rolling Stone.
Logged out: “Better for my brain”
Therefore, she has logged out more and more.
– I don’t watch as much anymore. It’s simply better for my brain. I know people probably won’t believe me, because at least I used to be a very online artist. But lately I’ve really struggled with my mental health to the point where, to be completely honest, I feel worse mentally than I’ve ever done in my entire life,” she tells Rolling Stone.
Charli XCX, who is with The 1975 drummer George Danielhas spoken with, among others, The 1975’s frontman Matt Healy about their concerns.
– He was very helpful in his own way, she says.
