For the sake of the unusual, Gif Sundsvall took the lead.

Then they collapsed completely.

Jumbo suffered their 10th loss – in 13 games.

The home supporters at Olympia finally got to cheer again, with Helsingborg’s 5-2 defeat against Gif Sundsvall. The win was HIF’s first home victory since May 3rd and Ervin Gigovic was the director of the big victory with his two goals.

Gif Sundsvall’s face is all the gloomier, as it remains jumbo in the super league after yet another heavy loss. In his 13 games played, Gif Sundsvall has lost ten – and conceded a whopping 29 goals.

– Far too bad on all fronts, it’s not okay. We are way too tight. It’s too bad, sums up “Giffarna” center back Nils Eriksson, 25, to TV4 after the match.

The three fresh points mean that Helsingborg climbs to fifth place in the tight battle for the qualifying places for the Allsvenskan.

Overtaking in Borlänge

A small joy for the Giffarna was found in Borlänge on Sunday. There, bottom competitor IFK Värnamo was beaten 5–1 by home team IK Brage, whose winger Gustav Nordh, 26, scored a hat-trick.

The loss was Värnamo’s ninth and the runner-up is one point ahead of Gif Sundsvall in the table. IFK Värnamo have now played nine straight games without a win and out of 27 possible they have only taken one point.

– We need a break now to get right in what we are doing. Conceding five goals… It won’t work, says Värnamo icon Marcus Antonsson, 35.
