Linda's son Emil caught the lightning on film.

Linda Forså, 41, thought the windows would break.

At the same time, son Emil, 14, captured the dramatic storm on picture.

– It was absolutely fantastic, but at the same time really nasty, she says.

It started with watching TV at home on the sofa.

But suddenly the rumble was heard. Just a few moments later, the sky lit up.

When the strong thunderstorm moved in over Nyköping on Saturday, Linda Forså, 41, and son Emil, 14, stood out on the balcony to follow the drama.

Then Emil captured a powerful lightning strike on picture.

– It can hardly be described. I thought the windows would break, says Linda.

Mother Linda and son Emil.

The flashes followed each other for a few intense minutes and several struck within the space of just a few seconds.

– The whole sky lit up. In the picture the lightning is a little further away, but it actually struck the side of our house later. And it really felt it.

Not the first time

Linda describes how the storm lasted for about fifteen minutes. Afterwards, the duo went back inside and checked that they had pulled the power.

But it was above all the deafening bang that stuck.

– I haven’t heard such a strong bang in many years. I got scared then and there. It was really uncomfortable.

It is also not the first time she has experienced such an intense thunderstorm.

The last time was 14 years ago, when her son Emil was still in her belly:

– Then there was also an incredibly intense storm, in the middle of the night. So now I’ve got another such thunderous memory together with him, she says and laughs.

Linda herself describes herself as terrified. This time it was instead 14-year-old Emil who got his mother to calm down.

She has not noticed any major injuries.

– As far as I know, nothing has been damaged, but I don’t know what it looks like in the rest of the town.
