There are plenty of good series on Netflix, especially if you dare to look a little further back in their catalog. Orange is the New Black, House of Cards, Queen’s Gambit and The Crown are some of the gems over the years. But here I have picked out four other series – which you may have missed, forgotten or should watch again.

The Haunting of Hill House – IMDb: 8.5

Horror can be difficult to achieve in series format – it’s easy to lose momentum and it mostly becomes a drawn-out story. But in The Haunting of Hill House is clearly an exception in my eyes. The series follows a group of siblings who grew up in the haunted Hill Housea childhood trauma that still affects them in adulthood. When one day they are forced to return to the house, old horror memories come to life. Mike Flanagan has really succeeded in creating a psychological thriller that digs all the way into the bone marrow, where drama, sadness and horror are kneaded together into a perfect dough.

Black Mirror – IMDb: 8.7

The tech-apocalyptic social satire Black Mirror took the world by storm when the first season premiered in 2011. Many years have passed since then and what at the time felt like dystopian sci-fi has more or less become reality today in 2026. AI partners, implants in the brain that record everything that happens around, to be rated and ranked – with a form of social points that determine jobs, status and housing. The similarities are many.

You should see Black Mirror if you haven’t already. From the first season to the last. Not all episodes share the same height, but overall it’s a five out of five series. One of my favorites ever.

Ozark – IMDb: 8.4

IN Ozark we get to follow a seemingly normal family. But the father has secretly laundered money for a Mexican cartel. To escape a brutal death, the family is forced from their home in Chicago to the summer resort of Ozark. Once there, he hopes to launder a few million dollars one last time to get rid of the cartel, but as time goes on, more problems arise for the family.

There is a compact darkness that surrounds Ozark and darkness is a common ingredient in the comics that I enjoy the most. Unfortunately, the series lost in quality towards the last season, but the first three seasons entertain and keep you on your toes the entire time. Unpleasant and interesting.

BoJack Horseman – IMDb: 8.8

One of Netflix’s best series ever is an animated one. In the slightly absurd BoJack Horseman, we follow a horse, which during the glory days of the 90s was a celebrated Hollywood star and the spearhead of a sitcom series. But the years have passed and job offers are conspicuous by their absence. Instead, it is alcohol in large quantities and an existential crisis.

At first glance, it’s mostly a crazy series about a crazy horse. But if you dare to give it a chance and time, there is another dimension: mental illness, self-destructiveness and trauma. Somehow, it’s easier to take it in when the main character is not a person, but an animal. Strange, but that’s how it is. A very popular series by both critics and viewers, which is not quite common.
