They were taken to hospital and at the same time several police patrols and a helicopter began searching for a suspected perpetrator.

– You heard and saw the helicopter when you walked around Alvesta, says Bastian Karlsson, 21.

He is depressed after what happened.

– It is crushing. It’s always terrible when it’s children. I myself have younger siblings.

Found deceased

At 2:30 p.m., a suspected perpetrator was found dead near the property in question. Police have not yet confirmed who the suspect is. However, it has been assumed that the deceased knew the injured children.

– It is terrible. We were probably at home when it happened, says a neighbor of the affected family.

“So thinking of the children”

The neighbor and her husband went to a birthday celebration elsewhere in the morning. They saw several ambulances as they drove south.

It was only when various newspapers began to write about the incident that she realized that something terrible had happened – right where they live.

– I think about the children like that, says the neighbor.

The neighbor says she hasn’t been able to see anything that seemed ominous about the family.

Crisis group in the church

Alvesta municipality has activated a crisis group due to the incident and the church is extra open. There, both a priest and a deacon receive. During the afternoon, about 30 candles burned in the church.

– It is difficult. Incomprehensible, says Malin Hjertquist, deacon for Alvesta church.

She said that the church will also be open on Sunday. The idea is to support those who are in crisis and grief.

– It’s completely insane. That it is even allowed to happen. I am speechless, says Lucas Andersson, a 30-year resident of Alvesta.

He has been thinking about the affected family during the evening. He hopes the injured children recover.

– Maybe it will be lighting a candle at home. Light has given hope to mankind for many hundreds of years.
