The American company “Qualcomm”, which specializes in manufacturing processors, revealed its latest processors aimed at economical laptop computers during the activities of the “Computex 2026” exhibition held in Taipei, Taiwan, according to a report by the American “The Verge” website.

The company promises that this chip will provide unexpected performance from economical computers in a way that raises users’ expectations of low-priced computers, based on statements by Mandar Deshpande, the company’s senior product manager, noting: “We are raising the standards of economical computers.”

Deshpande confirms that the new computers will be able to run Windows systems smoothly, as well as perform a group of basic computer functions such as making video calls, browsing the Internet, and even watching online content and running more than one application together, which are things that economic computers used to face challenges with.

In its speech, Qualcomm focused on the battery performance and its ability to work throughout the day without noise from the computer’s cooling fans, noting that several companies will rely on the processor in their computers.

The company aims to offer computers based on this processor at a price of $300 in the near future, based on the other specifications present in the computer.

Unconfirmed specifications

Qualcomm has not yet announced the final specifications of the new Snapdragon C processor, but a report by the American technical website XDA Developers reveals some of the expected specifications of the new processor.

The report states that the company did not rely on the “Orion” cores, which are the latest technology developed by the company, and instead used the older “Cryo” cores found in old phones and previously “Chromebook” computers.

Several products available in the market use the “Cryo” chip developed by the company, including the “NexPhone” phone that was unveiled at the recent Consumer Electronics Conference (CES), as well as any phone based on the “Snapdragon 778G” processor, which is the processor used in Samsung phones such as the “Galaxy A52s” and “Galaxy A73”, as well as a phone such as the “Poco X5″. Pro” (Poco X5 Pro).

The report listed the following specifications about the processor:

  • 8 “Kryo” 670 cores with a frequency of up to 2.7 GHz
  • Adreno 643 graphics card with a power of 12 teraflops from the processor for neural nuclei and operating artificial intelligence techniques
  • USB 3.1 port support

While these specifications seem modest, they are a big leap for economical computers that come at a price of $300, as USB 3.1 support ensures faster charging of computers and higher data transfer speeds.

Acer revealed its first laptops that rely on this processor, which are the Aspire Go 15 computers, which are a computer with a 15-inch screen with a resolution of 1080 pixels, a random memory space of up to 8 GB, and a storage space of 512 GB, with USB-C and USB-A ports.

Acer did not announce the price of the new computer, but it is expected to be close to $300, as it is the first computer to use the new processor.

Growing interest in economic computers

The new “Acer Aspire Go 15” computer and the “Snapdragon” processor reflect companies’ increasing interest in the economical computer category, as well as the entry of many companies into this category, including Apple, which introduced the “MacBook Neo,” and even “Dell,” which introduced the new “XPS 13.”

While tests related to Apple and Dell computers have appeared, indicating that the power of these computers is comparable to mid-range and flagship computers, Acer computers have not yet been subjected to tests.

Qualcomm confirmed that more computers that rely on this processor will be released in the coming months, but they are all based on the Windows system, without mentioning the new “Google Box” computers that Google announced at its recent conference and aim to replace the “Chromebook” category.
