Yesterday, Thursday, a Yemeni official revealed that the residence of Salem Al-Khanbashi – a member of the Yemeni Presidential Leadership Council and Governor of Hadhramaut – was targeted by 3 drones.
Mukhtar Al-Rahbi, advisor to the Minister of Information, said – in his account on the “X” company platform – that “the residence of the member of the Presidential Leadership Council, Governor of Hadhramaut, Salem Al-Khanbashi, was targeted by three marches of unknown origin.”
He added, “Al-Khanbashi was not injured in this terrorist targeting,” without details.
No party immediately claimed responsibility for this targeting, nor was there a comment from the Hadhramaut authorities, but they announced – earlier Thursday through a statement – the holding of an extraordinary meeting headed by Al-Khanbashi to discuss the latest developments in the situation in the governorate.
During the meeting, Al-Khanbashi urged – according to the statement – to continue security vigilance in the governorate located in the east of the country, strengthen preventive intelligence work, and raise the level of coordination between the various agencies.
Government authorities regained control of Hadramaut last January, a month after the dissolved Southern Transitional Council took control of it, amid continuing efforts to unify forces and normalize life in the governorate.
Hadhramaut was restored after confrontations waged by government forces – with significant support from the Saudi-led coalition to support legitimacy in Yemen – against the forces of the dissolved transitional council.
On January 9, the Transitional Council announced the dissolution of itself and all its main and subsidiary bodies and bodies, and the abolition of its offices at home and abroad, after its failure to forcibly control the southern governorates to separate them from the rest of the country.
