Georgian winger Khvicha Kvaratskhelia was crowned the best player in the Champions League for the 2025-2026 season, while midfielder Arda Guler won the best emerging player award, at a time when the European Football Association (UEFA) announced the ideal lineup for the competition, which witnessed a remarkable presence of players from Paris Saint-Germain, the champion of the competition.
The awards and the ideal lineup were chosen by the UEFA Technical Committee, after the conclusion of an edition that saw the Parisian team crowned with its second successive title in the continental competition.

Kvaratskhelia..the best player
The technical committee chose Kvaratskhelia as the best player in the Champions League after his great contribution to Paris Saint-Germain winning the title, as he scored 10 goals and provided 6 assists during 16 matches.
The Georgian international played an influential role in his team’s path to victory, and was decisive in the final match against Arsenal when he won a penalty kick from which his teammate Ousmane Dembele scored the equalizer.
One of his most prominent moments in the tournament was his brilliance during the exciting 5-4 victory over Bayern Munich in the first leg of the semi-final, when he scored two goals and contributed directly to his team’s victory.
Guler wins the Rookie Player Award
On the other hand, Turkish international Arda Guler won the Best Young Player Award, an award that UEFA introduced this season to replace the Best Young Player Award, and aims to honor players who achieve remarkable development during the tournament.
The current season witnessed a big jump in Guler’s role with Real Madrid, after he moved from starting only one match during the last edition to playing 13 starting matches out of 14 matches this season.
The 21-year-old player stood out during Real Madrid’s victory over Juventus in the league stage. He also finished the tournament with two goals and four assists, and scored his first two goals in the competition during the match against Bayern Munich in the second leg of the quarter-finals.
Saint-Germain dominates the ideal lineup
In terms of the ideal lineup for the season, Paris Saint-Germain imposed its dominance with the presence of five players in the team chosen by the UEFA Technical Committee.
The squad included Kvaratskhelia, Vitinya, Marquinhos, Nuno Mendes, and Ousmane Dembélé from the Parisian team, in exchange for three players from Arsenal, two players from Bayern Munich, and one player from Atletico Madrid.

Valverde’s most beautiful goal in the Champions League
The European Football Association (UEFA) Technical Committee chose midfielder Federico Valverde’s goal against Manchester City as the best goal in the Champions League for the 2025-2026 season.
The Uruguayan international’s goal came at the top of the list of the most beautiful goals of the tournament, after he scored in a wonderful way with a masterful technical touch, followed by a direct shot with which he completed his hat-trick during Real Madrid’s 3-0 victory over Manchester City in the first leg of the 11-leg final on March 11.
