Bayern Munich will have to take the next step towards the Champions League title, without the presence of its suspended Belgian coach, Vincent Kompany, in the match that will be held tomorrow, Tuesday, as his English assistant, Aaron Danks, will lead the team in the first leg of the semi-final match against Paris Saint-Germain.

Danks (42 years old) is one of Kompany’s three assistants, and is usually responsible for coaching the team on set pieces.

Danks will now lead the team at the “Parc des Princes” stadium after Kompany received his third yellow card in the second leg of the quarter-finals in which Bayern beat Real Madrid.

Kompany attended the final training session in Munich on Monday, but it was also noted that Danks exchanged greetings with several Bayern stars.

English striker Harry Kane said: “It is up to us to give our best on the field.”

The England national team captain expected that there would not be a major impact, noting that “the team leaders will play an additional role on the field to motivate their colleagues.”

But he also admitted: “We will miss Kompany on the touchline. He is our leader. We wish he was with us on the field.”

Kane added: “I expect a difficult match, but I am excited about this challenge. We are ready now. It is about providing the best performance.”

“We will overcome this challenge, we will deal with it as one team and get through this stage,” said sporting director Christoph Freund.

Freund added: “It will be important that we play as one team, be aggressive in tackles, and do our best on the field.”

He continued: “It will be an exciting and enthusiastic football match, full of individual skills. Two excellent teams will face each other. Things will be decided in the small details.”

As for the players, Serge Gnabry and Raphael Guerrero are absent, while Lennart Karl and Tom Bischoff are not fully prepared to return from injury.

Bayern Munich defeated defending champion Paris Saint-Germain by a score of (1-2) in Paris during the league stage of the tournament, and Luis Diaz scored the winning goal before being sent off.

Repeat this victory will put Bayern in a good position before the return match next week in Munich, where it will decide the matter of qualifying for the final on May 30 in Budapest, and Kompany will return to the touchline.
