Iraqi Prime Minister Muhammad Shiaa Al-Sudani directed the competent authorities to uncover those involved in the attack on Kuwait and bring them to justice, according to an official statement.

The Iraqi Ministry of Interior said that Interior Minister Abdul Amir Al-Shammari made a phone call with his Kuwaiti counterpart, Fahd Al-Yousef Al-Sabah, during which the circumstances of the attack that occurred yesterday morning, Friday, inside Kuwaiti territory, were discussed, by two drones that targeted one of the border posts.

Al-Shammari expressed his strong condemnation of the aggressive and sabotage acts, stressing that they represent an insult to the fraternal relations between the two countries and do not reflect the nature of the historical ties between them.

The two sides stressed the importance of coordination and joint cooperation to maintain the security and stability of the two countries, and to strengthen efforts to prevent the recurrence of such incidents.

The Kuwaiti army announced that two drones launched from Iraq targeted – yesterday, Friday – two border posts in the north of the country, causing material damage but no casualties.

Ministry of Defense spokesman Colonel Saud Abdulaziz Al-Atwan said in a statement: “This morning, two locations in the northern land border posts of the State of Kuwait were targeted by a sinful, aggressive attack using two explosive-laden drones.”

The director of Al Jazeera’s office in Kuwait, Saad Al-Saeedi, said that the targeting was carried out via drones believed to be guided by fiber laser techniques, which indicates a precise and deliberate identification of these two centers, noting that these sites fall within a series of border centers spread along the Kuwaiti-Iraqi border.

He added that the Kuwaiti military statement did not include extensive details about the extent of the material damage, merely indicating that the assessment was still ongoing, while no human losses had been recorded until the moment the statement was issued.

It is noteworthy that Kuwait has been subjected to dozens of attacks with drones and missiles since the outbreak of the war between America and Israel on the one hand and Iran on the other hand, launched by forces supported by Tehran in Iraq while their source was Iran. These attacks caused damage to some of the country’s infrastructure, including airports and energy facilities.
