The 40th session of the Tunis International Book Fair will be held from April 23 to May 3 with the participation of 394 publishing houses, including 184 Tunisian publishing houses and 210 from abroad.

Indonesia is the guest of honor at the exhibition, in which 37 countries participate as part of the trend towards enhancing openness to Asian cultural experiences. The number of book titles offered to the public is more than 148 thousand titles.

The exhibition’s director, Mohamed Saleh Al-Qadiri, said in a press conference on Thursday that the new session records “an increasing international presence and a diversity of contents and programs… which enhances the exhibition’s position as one of the most prominent cultural events in Tunisia.”

The exhibition witnesses the participation of prominent literary names, including Algerian novelist Saeed Khatibi, winner of the International Prize for Arabic Fiction in 2026, in addition to a program dedicated to children that includes 216 activities distributed over 7 pavilions with the participation of 75 institutions, combining traditional arts and modern technologies.

The cultural program of the exhibition includes a series of seminars, meetings and discussion sessions that address issues of translation, intellectual property, digital transformation and artificial intelligence with the participation of about 150 guests, in addition to commemorating the birth of the philosopher and scientist Ibn Rushd, while celebrating the winners of the exhibition’s annual awards in publishing, translation and literary and intellectual creativity.
