Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced, for the first time, that he was undergoing treatment for a malignant prostate tumor, after a previous surgery he performed in December 2024 to treat an enlargement of the prostate that he described as benign.
Netanyahu included this information in a lengthy statement he published on social media, which was accompanied by the issuance of what was described as an annual report assessing his health condition, according to the Times of Israel newspaper.
Aside from the tumor – which Netanyahu confirmed was successfully treated without specifying when the treatment took place – the medical evaluation stated that the Israeli Prime Minister (76 years old) is in good health, noting that all the results of blood tests and physical fitness tests were normal.
The medical evaluation also indicated that Netanyahu’s heart health is good, confirming that no health problems have appeared since he underwent a pacemaker implantation operation in July 2023.
In March 2024, Netanyahu underwent surgery to treat a hernia.
Postpone publication of the report
Netanyahu said, via social media, that he postponed the issuance of his medical report for two months, out of a desire to prevent “the terrorist regime in Iran from spreading more false propaganda against Israel.”
Last March, after the outbreak of the US-Israeli war on Iran, rumors spread on social media that Netanyahu had died. The Israeli Prime Minister recorded a video clip of himself visiting a café in occupied Jerusalem in the same month to discredit those rumours.
Netanyahu underwent prostate surgery in 2024 after he was diagnosed with a urinary tract infection resulting from “benign enlargement of the prostate.” In 2023, a pacemaker was installed for him.
Elections are scheduled to be held in Israel by next October.
