Lamin Gamal injury developments

While celebrating the goal, Lamine fell to the ground in pain, amidst the shock of his teammates who called the medical staff. A few minutes later, before the resumption of play, the player came out as a substitute and left the field directly towards the dressing room.

A state of great anxiety prevails in Barcelona and Spain awaiting the results of the medical examinations that will determine the nature of the injury and the duration of the absence, amid expectations that Lamine will be away from the field for a period ranging from two weeks at best, and 4 weeks, which may increase to 8 and perhaps more.

This means that Lamine will not participate, at least in El Clásico against Real Madrid, and his season may end entirely, and his participation in the 2026 World Cup, which will start in 50 days, will be greatly threatened.

The Spanish newspaper “Sport” reported that Lamine arrived this morning at Barcelona’s Sports City, and entered it through the back gate, away from the eyes of the press.

The player is scheduled to undergo an MRI to determine the severity of the injury, after which an official statement will be issued by the club.

Complex injury

Meanwhile, Spanish doctor Pedro Luis Ripoll confirmed that Lamine’s injury may be more complicated than expected, stressing the need to deal with it with caution, especially with regard to the recovery period.

Ripoll, who is considered one of the best doctors in Spain, explained to Cadena SER: “This type of injury has a relapse rate of 30%, so we must be very careful. We must be very careful about the recovery period.”

He pointed out that the nature of the injury varies according to its location, saying: “If the injury is in the belly of the muscle, the outlook is more positive; but if it is at the point where the muscle connects to the tendon or in the tendon itself, the injury may be more serious,” explaining that the period of absence will reach 4 to 6 weeks in the latter case.

Ripoll pointed out that if the absence is prolonged, the player’s participation in the World Cup may be in doubt: “It is too early at this stage to determine whether it is a tear or just a muscle strain.”

He added, “In any case, coaches like Luis de la Fuente want players who are physically ready and have the rhythm of matches. I think calling him up will be difficult, and the team may lose an important player in the World Cup.”

Barcelona’s victory over Celta Vigo
