According to Opta’s computer forecast model, the three clubs enter the finals as favorites to win, as Arsenal has a 55.8% chance of winning the Champions League, compared to 65.3% for Aston Villa in the Europa League, and 59.4% for Crystal Palace in the European Conference League.
When these percentages are combined, the probability of achieving the European treble reaches 21.6%, which leaves the scenario of a comprehensive English coronation in the three tournaments valid as the end of the season approaches.
Three English clubs are making history
Last Tuesday, Arsenal qualified for the Champions League final for the second time in its history, and the first after an absence of 20 years, after defeating its Spanish guest, Atletico Madrid, with a single goal scored by Bukayo Saka in the 44th minute of the match held at the Emirates Stadium, giving the English team a lead (2-1) on aggregate.
Yesterday, Thursday, Aston Villa joined Arsenal after its great victory over Nottingham Forest to reach the Europa League final.
While Crystal Palace completed the European treble by beating Shakhtar Donetsk to reach the final of the Conference League.
The Conference League, which was launched in the 2021-2022 season, is only in its fifth season, which means that there were only five opportunities for teams from one country to reach the finals of the three European competitions at the same time.

Previous seasons have witnessed three or more English clubs reaching European finals in one season, the last of which was the 2024-2025 season when Tottenham beat Manchester United in the Europa League final, and Chelsea won the Conference League title.
In the 2018-2019 season, English clubs dominated two European finals, as Liverpool defeated Tottenham in the Champions League final, days after Chelsea defeated Arsenal in the Europa League final.
In the 2020-2021 season, Chelsea defeated Manchester City in the Champions League final, while Manchester United lost to Villarreal in the Europa League final.
However, these seasons were limited to only two European championships, which means that there is no opportunity for an English club to participate in a third final within the same season.
The same applies to the 2005-2006 season, when Arsenal and Middlesbrough lost European finals, but the European Cup Winners’ Cup had been canceled seven years earlier, leaving only the Champions League and Europa League (then the UEFA Cup) available.
Achievements of Italian and Spanish clubs
Although the 2025-2026 season is the first in which English clubs have reached three European finals, it is not the first to achieve this achievement.
Italy and Spain preceded this, as Italy was able to achieve it four times, including once in the conference league era.
In the 2022-2023 season, Inter Milan reached the Champions League final, Roma reached the Europa League final, and Fiorentina reached the Conference League final, but all three Italian clubs lost the three finals.
The other three cases came during the period between 1988 and 1993, which is the period in which Italian football reached its peak, and during which the Italian clubs were able to win the three finals in the season (1989-1990) by crowning Milan with the European Cup, Juventus at the expense of Fiorentina in the European Union Cup, and Sampdoria in the Cup Winners’ Cup.
In the 1988-1989 and 1992-1993 seasons, Italy won two titles out of three in each season, as Milan won the European Cup and Napoli the UEFA Cup in the first, while Juventus and Parma won the UEFA Cup and the Cup Winners’ Cup in the second, while Milan lost the Champions League final to Marseille.
As for Spain, the 1985-1986 season witnessed its clubs reaching the three finals, but Real Madrid was the only team to win a title, after winning the European Cup, while Barcelona lost the European Cup final, and Atletico Madrid lost the Cup Winners’ Cup final.
