Shower in the sea and pee in the bush. Now there is a risk of water shortages in groundwater reservoirs and in watercourses in eleven counties.
On Tuesday, SMHI issued a notice about the risk of water shortages in groundwater reservoirs in the counties of Stockholm, Uppsala, Halland and Östergötland. And previously the same situation was noted for Västra Götaland, Jönköping, Kalmar, Gotland, Skåne, Kronoberg and Blekinge counties.
In Västra Götaland, in addition to low groundwater levels, there are also low flows in the larger rivers Tidan, Viskan (downstream of Kinna) and Ätran. Low flows in waterways are also found in some other counties.
According to SMHI, the risk of water shortages in the eleven counties remains at least for a few weeks to come.
– But it is controlled by the weather. It also cannot be ruled out that there will be more messages about the risk of water shortage in the future, says Julia Zabori, hydrologist on duty at SMHI.
