The prosecutor has requested that the detention of Marius Borg Høiby, son of Norwegian Crown Princess Mette-Marit, be extended by four weeks. The reason is the continued high risk of recidivism, the Oslo police state in a press release.

Høiby was sentenced to four years in prison by the Oslo district court on June 15. He was found guilty of, among other things, two rapes and physical and psychological violence against a former girlfriend. At the same time, he was acquitted of two other counts of rape.

The verdict has been appealed by both parties and the case is expected to be taken up in the Court of Appeal next year. The issue of extended detention will be decided in court on July 13.
