The hospital drama “The Pitt” and the comedy series “Hacks” receive the most nominations for the Emmy award this year. The American series collected 25 and 24 nominations, respectively, when they were announced on Wednesday.
The HBO Max series “The Pitt” has run for two seasons and takes place in a busy emergency room. As a newcomer last year, it was awarded for, among other things, best drama drama series and best actor for Noah Wyle. He is also nominated this year, as is colleague Katherine LaNasa. The series also takes home four of the seven nominations in the Best Supporting Actress category.
For acclaimed “Hacks” – which ended after five seasons – Jean Smart, among others, is nominated for best female lead role in a comedy series. She has been awarded the award for each of the previous four seasons, and according to the AP, it would be surprising if she didn’t win again in September.
Reiner nominated posthumously
The late film director and actor Rob Reiner is nominated for an Emmy for the eighth time for his guest role as Albert Schnurr in the fourth season of “The Bear.”
Reiner was found dead in December along with his wife Michele Singer Reiner after being stabbed. The couple’s son Nick Reiner is suspected, but he denies any wrongdoing.
