US President Donald Trump did not rule out the possibility of striking Iran again tonight, according to what he said today, Wednesday, on the sidelines of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) summit held in Türkiye.

Trump said during his meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky that “our attack on Iran could be major,” threatening at the same time to seize the Iranian island of Khark.

Trump also threatened to destroy Iran’s electricity and water plants, but added that he “does not want to” and vowed to reimpose the naval blockade on Iran.

In his speech, he pointed out that “the Iranians are behaving very badly,” referring to their targeting of ships in the Strait of Hormuz.

Trump confirmed that American forces bombed Iranian sites yesterday, Tuesday, in response to Tehran attacking some ships in the Strait.

He said: “These are crazy people, and they should have been eliminated 47 years ago,” accusing Iranian officials of violating the memorandum of understanding and disavowing their pledge to stop their nuclear program.

The American President renewed his rejection of Iran possessing nuclear weapons, and said: “The Iranians cannot obtain nuclear weapons, and if they had them, they would use them.”

Memorandum of Understanding

Earlier, Trump said that he believes that the memorandum of understanding with Iran has expired, in the latest escalation between the two countries.

Trump added during a meeting with the Secretary-General of NATO before an alliance summit was held in Ankara: “I do not want to deal with the Iranians… We wasted a lot of time with Iran, and we must do our work.”

The US President launched an attack on Iranian leaders, describing them as “sick, scum, and violent villains.” Trump said that Washington will not allow Tehran to possess a nuclear weapon.

Iranian warning

In response to Trump’s statements, the advisor to the Iranian leader, Ali Akbar Velayati, said today, Wednesday, that “American moves will push the region towards the fire.”

Velayati threatened to respond to possible American attacks, stressing that “the axis of resistance will not remain silent in the face of adventures with its hand on the trigger.”

Commenting on the US President’s announcement of canceling the memorandum of understanding, Velayati said, “Verbal acknowledgment of canceling the memorandum of understanding falls upon the US president.”

For his part, Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian said that his country stands firm in defending its rights, with renewed tensions between Tehran and Washington.

On Wednesday, the Iranian Armed Forces threatened that any site that allows the United States to attack Iran will be a “legitimate target.”

A statement from the Khatam al-Anbiya headquarters, which is the central operations room of the Iranian forces, said: “Every support provided to the aggressive American army in order to violate the sovereignty of Iran’s Islamic lands will be a legitimate target for the armed forces.”

Today, Wednesday, the US Army announced the launch of strikes on more than 80 Iranian targets in response to attacks targeting 3 ships in the Strait of Hormuz attributed to Tehran, and the Iranian Revolutionary Guard announced the targeting of dozens of US military facilities in Bahrain and Kuwait in response to the US strikes.
