The memorial for Oliver Tree will be broadcast live, the family’s representative tells Billboard.
Due to “limited space for family and friends”, the ceremony will be opened to fans worldwide.
The American artist Olive Tree Nickell32, died in a helicopter crash in Rio de Janeiro on June 14.
Now the family has decided that the memorial service, which is described as “a celebration of his life” on July 25 will be broadcast live to the public, a representative for the artist tells Billboard. The reason is that they want everyone who wants to celebrate Oliver Tree to be able to join, even if the place of the memorial itself cannot accommodate more than the closest mourners.
The ceremony will be held at the UCSC Quarry Amphitheater at the University of California in Santa Cruz – the town where Oliver Tree grew up.

The family’s words after the fatal crash
In a statement, the family described him as “more than a musician; he was a true artist in every sense of the word.”
The family is also asking for donations to the “Dr. Oliver Tree’s Extremely Epic Art Grant for Baby Geniuses” foundation, which he himself wrote in his will. The foundation will support young artists in music, film, installation and performance art, according to Billboard.
