Bathers jump into Italy's Lake Como in an image from the summer of 2023.

Fines of just over SEK 2,200. It could now be the punishment for half-naked tourists in one of northern Italy’s tourist magnets.

Everyone at the picture-perfect Lake Como has had enough. Now it’s over with bare breasts and tourists in swimwear in the fishing village’s cobblestone alleys, reports The Guardian.

The village in northern Italy has a population of around 650 people, but in the summers they are invaded by tourists.

– Varenna is a wonderful village and we are proud to welcome hundreds of thousands of visitors from all over the world every year. But the quality of life of our residents cannot be sacrificed on the altar of mass tourism, says Mayor Mauro Manzoni to The Guardian.

From now on, swimwear is only allowed on beaches and boats.

In addition, tourists traveling in groups are limited to a maximum of 25 people and guides are prohibited from using megaphones.
