Former Brazilian star Romario launched a sharp attack on Italian coach Carlo Ancelotti, after the Brazilian national team was eliminated from the 2026 World Cup in the round of 16 against Norway.
This came after the Brazilian Football Confederation hinted that Ancelotti would continue his mission as head of the national team’s technical staff, with his intention to maintain him within a project that extends until the World Cup in 2030.

It seems that this decision was not accepted by Romario, the world champion with Brazil in 1994, who expressed his anger during his program on his private channel, “Romario TV.”
Romario said: “I would have torn up his contract. After the end of the match (against Norway), I would have gone to the dressing room as president and said to him: Thank you very much, bye. Go to court and we will see what happens.”
He added, attacking the Italian coach: “It is unacceptable for Ancelotti to remain coach of the Brazilian national team after this failure, and after this shame he caused.”
Criticism of the course of coaches in Brazil
Romario continued his criticism, considering that the Brazilian Federation is repeating the same mistakes in dealing with coaches.
He said: “I mentioned this in the last three programs and I repeat it now. This is unacceptable. Everything must change.”
He added: “We had Dunga, who lost and left. We had Felipe Scolari, who won the World Cup and continued. We had Tite, who lost and continued and then lost again. And now we have Ancelotti, who lost and will continue as well.”
The Brazilian Football Confederation has not yet issued any official statement after the exclusion against Norway, pending determining the future of the technical staff led by Ancelotti.
Brazil had bid farewell to the tournament after losing to the Norwegian team, led by Erling Haaland, with a score of (1-2), in a new exclusion that increased the disappointment of the Brazilian fans.
