The Algerian company Sonatrach announced today, Wednesday, the delivery of the first shipment of liquefied natural gas to Germany, in a move aimed at expanding its presence in the German market and strengthening its position as a major energy supplier in Europe.
The company said, in a statement published by the Algerian News Agency, that the shipment arrived on July 2 at the floating regasification station “Wilhelmshaven 1”, after launching from the gas liquefaction vessel “GL2Z” in Batioua, and was transported on board the liquefied natural gas tanker “Tessala” owned by Sonatrach.

She added that this process reflects “the complex’s ability to seize the opportunities offered by developments in the international natural gas market, and at the same time work to enhance the valuation of its resources in strategic markets with promising potential.”
The company stressed that the shipment also highlights “its commercial flexibility and its commitment to supporting its presence in major global energy markets.”
Sonatrach explained that it intends to continue developing its exports to the German market, in a way that strengthens its position as a major energy supplier and contributes to supporting the security of energy supplies to the European continent, in light of the increasing efforts of European countries to diversify sources of gas imports.
