It was not possible to crown a winner at Grimsta.
BP and Gais played 1–1 in the Allsvenskan restart.
Lukas Björklund missed a great opportunity to decide at the end.
Looking at the table, it was supposed to be an even story when BP and Gais were pitted against each other in Stockholm on Monday evening – and so it was.
The teams entered the game with 15 points each and left it with 16 each. However, BP could have taken all three points, but a big miss with only minutes to go meant it was 1-1.
Lukas Björklund was presented with an open goal when a cross came in from the left, but the BP striker headed over from close range.
– Maybe we should get a lead there at the end. But there is a lot to work on, of course, states BP’s Rasmus Örqvist in TV4 after the match.
First goal for Sletsjöe
The away team was missing the two best scorers in William Milovanovic and Samuel Salter – who were both suspended – but in their absence Henry Sletsjöe stepped up.
The Gais midfielder scored his first goal of the season ten minutes before the break, making it 1-1 after a tangled situation in the penalty area.
Before that, the home team’s Oliver Berg had headed in 1-0 on a cross from Mads Hansen.
“We do enough”
In the second half, Gais pressed for a winning goal, but Leo Cavallius in the BP goal stood in the way of everything – and at one point also received help from his post when Shalom Ekong shot.
– It is heavy. I think we do enough to win the match, then we slack off a bit and invite them in, says the away team’s Rasmus Niklasson Petrovic.
However, BP still came closest to victory, in the form of Björklund’s missed position.
For BP, another home game awaits next, when league leaders Sirius will visit on Sunday. On the same day, Gais will host Elfsborg at home in Gothenburg.
