The Italian Football Club, Napoli, announced today, Friday, that it has officially signed a contract with coach Massimiliano Allegri to coach the club’s first team.

This news had been expected for weeks, since Antonio Conte confirmed his departure from Napoli at the end of last May, and Allegri was dismissed as Milan coach after the disappointing season. Allegri signed a three-year contract.

Allegri led Milan to win the league title in 2011 during his first period as coach of the team. He also led Juventus to win the league title five times, and the same in the Italian Cup.

Allegri (58 years old) returned to coach Milan last year, and his mission was to lead the team to occupy one of the qualifying places for the Champions League, after it finished the season before last in eighth place.

Although the team was in the first two places and was competing for the title, in the last eight matches the team achieved only two victories, falling to fifth place after the end of the last round’s matches.

Napoli, who suffered from several injuries last season, finished the league in second place. Conte led the team to win the league title the season before last, in his first year coaching the team.

It is noteworthy that Conte is among the first candidates to take over as coach of the Italian national team, and if he is chosen, this will be his second term.
