The guys on the stag party played loud music, drank beer and rocked the boat.
In the end the whole crew capsized. The boat sank and everyone ended up in the water.
– The boat was not meant to capsize. It just happened that way, says one of the men on the boat.
Restaurant guests at Smögenbryggan filmed the spectacle with their mobile phones. The clips have been widely shared on social media
– It’s the strangest thing I’ve ever been a part of, says the 35-year-old man who was on the stag party on the boat.
– It was all a stupid thing. The boat was not meant to capsize. It just happened, it was an accident.
The gang who had a bachelor party salvaged the boat themselves on Saturday morning.
– We pumped it out. It’s good that it worked out and that nothing leaked out of the boat. And of course no one got hurt.
“Worse things have happened”
According to the 35-year-old, the boat also did well.
– It works fine.
– It is sad, of course, that there was an emergency, but it is what it is.
What will happen to the marriage after this bachelor party?
– Yes. oh my gosh no worries. Worse things have happened.
It’s a woman with a sense of humor?
– Yes, absolutely.
“All PR is good PR”
Johan Dahlqvist, communications manager at Sotenäs municipality, notes that the derailed bachelor party has set Smog on the map.
– Many people think that all PR is good PR. As long as nothing serious happens, it’s fun in retrospect. It would have been worse if someone had been injured or if the boat had caused an oil spill.
Peter Johansson, officer on duty at the Western Rescue Region, says that there were 10-15 people on board when the boat sank.
– When we arrived, everyone was out of the lake. You can say that it went well under the circumstances. Everyone made it through unscathed and there was no leakage.
The police have started a preliminary investigation into negligence in maritime traffic. On Monday, no suspected crime was reported.
Now the police will hold interviews with witnesses who saw the boat capsize.
