The engineering strategy of the “PV5” model is based on providing a flexible chassis and wheelbase that allows operators and companies to choose the structural configuration appropriate to the nature of their business.

The launch ceremony witnessed the display of five main versions designed to meet the needs of the passenger transportation, logistics services, and special modification sectors.

Diversity of structures and operational solutions

The new platform has demonstrated a high ability to adapt through the following versions introduced in the regional market:

  • PV5 Passenger: Designed for passenger transportation, shared transportation services, and institutional transportation. Features sliding doors for easy entry and flexible luggage storage.
  • PV5 Cargo: Targeting the last-mile logistics and delivery services sector. Offers up to 4.42 cubic feet of storage capacity, and features a low loading height for easy shipping.
  • PV5 WAV: A version equipped directly from the factory to support the mobility of people with disabilities, as the equipment for wheelchairs is integrated within the basic structure to ensure unified safety standards.
  • PV5 Prime Edition: A distinguished category aimed at luxury transportation services, hotels, and VIP transportation.
  • PV5 Drop SideChassis-Cab: This allows companies to install custom structures such as cooling boxes or maintenance and general service units.

The Kia PV5 comes equipped with a battery with an operational capacity of 71.2 kWh in its long-range models, allowing it to achieve a driving range of up to 524 kilometers according to the NEDC evaluation standard. To support continued commercial operation, the vehicle supports direct current (DC) fast charging technology, which allows the battery power to increase from 10% to 80% within approximately 30 minutes.

Technologically, the car runs on an embedded operating system based on the Android Automotive OS (AAOS) architecture, allowing direct access to Google services and custom business applications, along with support for over-the-air (OTA) software updates. Real-time breakdown tracking and monitoring systems have also been integrated to facilitate the management of large fleets.

Safety and international evaluations

The platform is equipped with an integrated package of driver assistance systems (ADAS), including: Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist (FCA), Lane Keeping and Following System (LKA/LFA), and Smart Cruise Control (SCC).

The model has received several international ratings, as the Cargo version received a 5-star safety rating for the year 2025 from the European New Car Assessment Program (Euro NCAP), which is designated for commercial trucks, in addition to the passenger category receiving the “Family Car of the Year” award from BBC TopGear magazine.

Kia plans to expand this system in the future by offering additional models and advanced test models, such as the “PV5 WKNDR” experimental model designated for outdoor activities.
