A supercomputer revealed its predictions about the identity of the winning team in the current edition of the World Cup finals held in the United States, Mexico and Canada, after the end of the first round matches.
32 teams qualified for the knockout rounds, which begin this evening with a confrontation between South Africa and Canada, while 16 other teams left the tournament through the back door.

After simulating about 25,000 times to extract its predictions, the Opta supercomputer predicted that the French team, led by its star Kylian Mbappe, would win the title for the third time after 1998 and 2018.
Artificial intelligence predictions for the World Cup champion
The French national team’s chances of winning the title approached the 19% barrier, with a slight difference from the defending champions Argentina, who the computer predicted would reach the final match scheduled for July 19.
The Spanish national team, champion of the last edition of the European Cup (Euro 2024), came in third place, as its chances of winning the title exceeded 13%.
The aforementioned trio are the only ones among the 32 teams whose chances of winning the title exceeded the 10% barrier, followed by the English team that aspires to engrave another star on its shirt after the first one it achieved in 1966.
As for the Brazilian team, which holds the record for the number of times crowned in the tournament, it came in fifth place with a chance of only 6.5%.
At the level of the Arab teams, Morocco’s chances of lifting the expensive cup appear to be the greatest compared to Egypt and Algeria, as it is the only one whose winning expectations exceeded the 1% barrier, while the other two teams were much less than that.
The computer’s predictions were very harsh on 3 teams, whose chances of writing history were completely non-existent, and the matter concerned the trio of South Africa, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, and Cape Verde.

Round of 32 matches in the World Cup
The round of 32 matches will end early next Saturday morning, July 4, 2026, Mecca and Doha time, with the final match between Colombia and Ghana, and on the same day in the evening, the round of 16 matches will begin, amid expectations of the presence of more than one football epic, most notably Germany, France, Portugal and Spain, but this is conditional on those teams achieving victory in their elimination matches against Paraguay, Sweden, Croatia and Austria, respectively.
