Israeli platforms published aerial scenes documenting the details of a violent confrontation in the village of Deir Siryan in Nabatieh Governorate, southern Lebanon, which ended with the death of a Hezbollah fighter after carrying out a shooting operation that led to the death of an officer in the Golani Brigade and the wounding of another soldier.

According to reports, the event began around two o’clock in the morning yesterday, when a force from the Golani Brigade’s combat team clashed with the resistance fighter during military activity in the area, and the fighter initiated fire at the force, which led to the death of Captain David Hazot, a platoon commander in the brigade, and the wounding of another soldier.

Although the soldiers tried to respond by firing bullets, they failed to reach him at that moment, which prompted the Israeli army to bomb the area with artillery shells to control the situation.

Besiegement, withdrawal, then assassination

Aerial scenes taken during the daylight hours showed the size of the military force that was called in to confront the fighter alone. The footage documents the moment he left one of the houses, where three Merkava tanks and a military jeep tightly surrounded the house in the village.

Despite this heavy military siege, the fighter began to retreat and withdraw towards a nearby agricultural land. Meanwhile, he was exposed to a heavy barrage of bullets from military vehicles, resulting in his injury. The scene did not end there, but one of the tanks fired an artillery shell towards his position, coinciding with the arrival of another Merkava tank to participate in the pursuit.

Israeli reports indicate that the faction leader in the Golani Brigade is the first person killed in the ranks of the army since the signing of the framework agreement between Israel and Lebanon on Friday.

Military data confirms the killing of 37 officers and soldiers in confrontations with Hezbollah fighters since the outbreak of fighting on March 2, in addition to the injury of dozens among the ranks of the Israeli forces.

Hezbollah denounced the framework agreement concluded by the Lebanese government in Washington, describing it as humiliating and non-existent, considering that it violates Lebanon’s sovereignty. It also vowed to respond to the occupation’s violations of the ceasefire.
