The Moroccan national team achieved an expected victory over Haiti 4-2 in the third round of the 2026 World Cup groups, reaching the seventh point and qualifying as runner-up from its third group to the second round of the competition.
Wehbe admits mistakes
Morocco coach Mohamed Wehbe said in statements after the match: “We are very happy, even if we are in second place. We did not play well in the first half and we knew that we had to rush in the second, as the opponent had nothing to lose, and we were not good in the second balls, but we succeeded in turning the tables, winning the match and qualifying, and this is the most important thing.”
Hakimi…a crazy match
For his part, Atlas Lions captain Achraf Hakimi said: “It was a crazy match, and I am happy and proud of qualifying. We must continue like this.”

He added: “We did not start the match well against a team that was out of competition. We did not give up. It is true that we suffered, but in the end we qualified. Now we do not know our next opponent and we must rest and focus on the next match.”
Morocco, which became the first Arab team to reach the round of 32 in the current edition, will have to travel to Mexico to compete in the round of 32 next Monday against the champion of Group Six, which includes the Netherlands, Japan and Sweden.
