The Spain national team was subjected to a sudden stop during its training at its camp in Chattanooga, Tennessee, due to the issuance of a weather alert warning of strong thunderstorms. The training session was stopped only about 15 minutes after it began, days before its expected confrontation with Uruguay in the 2026 World Cup.
The US National Weather Service reported warnings of severe storms in the region, with the possibility of damaging winds reaching speeds of up to 128 km/h, in addition to the possibility of tornadoes forming suddenly.
According to the warnings, the players and technical staff were instructed to take cover as soon as any lightning was detected within a range of 16 kilometers, and that activity should not be resumed until a full 30 minutes had passed without recording any atmospheric electrical activity.
