Ryan Lochte, 41, didn’t want to wait to get down on one knee.
Now he is both married and engaged.
“Apparently I’m not allowed to say I’m divorced”writes Lochte on Instagram.
The scandal-ridden American swimming legend Ryan Lochte has proposed to girlfriend Molly Gillihan and the couple shared their happy news a couple of days ago.
“You helped me find myself again, and I will forever be grateful for that”Lochte signs Instagram.
The engagement quickly sparked reactions, as Lochte’s divorce from wife Kayla Reid has yet to go through.

Lochte’s breakup with Reid became a dirty story.
The former couple have three children together and Reid accuses Lochte, among other things, of having taken drugs in front of the children and of being under the influence when he drove with them.
The divorce that Reid and Lochte filed for last March has dragged on due to various disputes. But Lochte is hitting back at those who claim he can’t propose to another woman before the previous marriage is formally dissolved.
“Apparently I can’t say I’m divorced until all the signatures are in place. We’ve reached an agreement, although the judge hasn’t officially approved it yet. But I made a mistake thinking the hardest part was over.”writes Lochte.
He continues:
“Molly and I realize that this may just be the beginning of a very tough and exhausting journey.”
Six Olympic golds
Lochte reaped great success in the swimming pool – a little overshadowed by compatriot Michael Phelps who won even more. But Lochte won, among other things, six Olympic golds.
He was also involved in a couple of scandals at the end of his career. He vandalized a gas station with two teammates after the 2016 Olympics and a couple of years later was banned for 14 months for a doping offence.
