Bosnian Vladimir Petkovic, the coach of the Algerian national team, confirmed that his team has its fate in his hand when it faces its Jordanian counterpart on Tuesday morning, in the second round of the 2026 FIFA World Cup in America, Mexico and Canada.
The Algerian national team lost 3-0 in the first round to the Argentine national team in the tenth group, while the Jordanian national team lost 1-3 to Austria.

The team known as the “Desert Warriors” may exit the tournament if it loses to Jordan, in addition to Austria obtaining a point against Argentina in the other match in the group.
Petkovic said in a press conference: “The certain thing is that we will try to take our fate into our own hands and provide a performance worthy of our goal.”
The Algerian national team’s last appearance in the World Cup dates back to the 2014 edition in Brazil, where the team reached the round of sixteen and hopes to achieve that again in the current edition of the tournament.
Petkovic explained that his team was not bad against Argentina, explaining that facing Jordan will represent an important opportunity to show the team’s capabilities, which was not available against the world champion Argentina team.
The Algeria coach continued: “We played well, but we were punished with outstanding individual skills from Lionel Messi.”

In turn, Moroccan Jamal Al-Salami, coach of the Jordanian national team, said that anxiety and confusion no longer existed in the Jordanian national team, before facing Algeria.
