Qatari Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani met today, Monday, in the Bürgenstock resort in Switzerland, with French Foreign Minister Jean-Noel Barrot.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Qatar said that during the meeting, cooperation relations between the two countries and ways to support and enhance them were reviewed, and the latest regional developments were discussed, especially the diplomatic efforts made to enhance security and stability in the region, after the signing of the memorandum of understanding between the United States and Iran.

During the meeting, the Qatari Prime Minister affirmed the State of Qatar’s full support for the ongoing negotiations between the American and Iranian sides, to reach sustainable solutions to the outstanding issues through dialogue and peaceful means, in a way that enhances regional security.

Today, Monday, Qatar and Pakistan announced the conclusion of the first round of high-level talks between the United States and Iran, which were held in the Bürgenstock resort in Switzerland within the framework of the memorandum of understanding signed in Islamabad.

A joint Qatari-Pakistani statement said that the work of the first day of the Lake Lucerne Summit took place in a positive and constructive atmosphere, and resulted in encouraging progress, indicating the establishment of a mechanism to continue technical talks between the parties.

On June 15, the United States and Iran announced – with the Pakistani mediator – that they had reached an agreement on a memorandum of understanding to end the war, which Washington and Tel Aviv started against Tehran on February 28.
