Jeremy Doku, 24, wants to be there when his baby is born.
For that he was seen on French television.
Documentary going to be a father for the first time. He doesn’t want to miss that.
Before the World Cup, the Belgian told that he intends to leave the tournament to attend the birth, which is estimated around the round of 16.
Doku is now being criticized from the French side.
France Pierron, who works for the reputable L’Equipe, comments on the soccer star’s choice in one of the newspaper’s television programs.
– The WC is an incredible joy. There are hundreds of footballers who would kill to be in your shoes. It may never happen again in your life. You are living your childhood dream, she says and continues:
– Yet you intend to leave all this to be present at the birth of your child – a disgusting moment, if you’ll excuse the expression, where the father is completely useless.
Poodles: “I’m sorry”
Pierron’s statements sparked outrage on social media and now she is apologizing.
“I expressed a personal opinion within the context of a debate. I understand that the statements may have shocked, upset or hurt some of you, and for that I am sorry,” she writes on X and continues:
“It was never my intention to denigrate the place or role of fathers together with their partner and their child.”
Doku started in Belgium’s opening match against Egypt (1–1). In Sunday’s match against Iran, he was missing from the squad, but it had nothing to do with the birth of a child. Instead, it was a respiratory infection that put an end to it.
