King Charles III has decided to publish his tax records in order to increase public transparency, the British court said.

British monarchs are exempt by law from income tax, capital gains tax and inheritance tax. Despite that, the first two categories have been paid repeatedly since 1993 – on a voluntary basis.

According to AFP, Charles III will now become the first monarch to release his tax statement, which is scheduled to be implemented on Thursday.

“Our aim is to explain all aspects of the royal finances in a way that further increases clarity and accessibility, while placing them in their historical and constitutional context,” a spokesperson said in a statement.
