The influencer Hanna Friberg has cut two Sweden shirts – to the annoyance of some.
She herself calls it a creative fashion project.
“Over here in the USA, everyone has loved it,” she writes to Aftonbladet.
The influencer Hanna Friberg is on a WC trip in the USA. Ahead of Sweden’s match against the Netherlands in Houston, she published pictures of herself wearing Sweden shirts – which were cut to shreds. In one picture it was a yellow home shirt and in another she wore a blue away shirt.
It has led to some angry reactions on social media, including in Hanna Friberg’s own comment field. One person considers it “sickly disrespectful”, another equates it to tearing up the Swedish flag.
Answering about the shirts
In a text message to Aftonbladet, Friberg announces that she has seen some comments, but has not experienced any major storm of hate.
“The shirts were my own and the idea was never to provoke or be disrespectful to the national team,” she writes.
According to the influencer, it was a “creative fashion project”.
“I redid my Sweden jerseys and matched them with a pair of custom made jeans that I also brought out for the WC. On site here in Houston, there were any number of people who came forward and complimented the outfit and thought it was fun. I’ve probably never received so many compliments on an outfit, honestly”.
“Personal touch”
She emphasizes that she is of course rooting for Sweden.
“This was just my way of putting a personal touch on the fan clothing. And over here in the US, everyone has loved it,” she concludes.
