Moroccan national football team coach Mohamed Wehbe said that facing Scotland, on Friday, at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough in the second round of Group C competitions within the 2026 World Cup in North America, will be different from facing Brazil in the first round.

Wehbe said in a press conference on the eve of the confrontation: “Brazil is a team that has technical skill but is also very strong physically. They have big and strong players, but of course Scotland’s style is completely different.”

He added: “They may play the ball forward more quickly, and they are also very good at second balls.”

The Atlas Lions’ performance was convincing against Brazil (1-1) in New Jersey, but Wehbe hopes to perform better.

He said: “I think we can be better. The players know that and we know it. The goal is to be better in the next match, even if the context and competitor are different.”

Saibari’s fate

Wehbe stressed that his striker Ismail Saibari is still fully focused on the World Cup, amid reports that he is close to completing a huge transfer to Bayern Munich, the German champion.

Wehbe said: “We do not decide the timing of this, of course, but it has not become official yet.”

He added: “We are very proud when Moroccan players are able to play for big clubs like Bayern Munich.”

Wehbe explained, “The player is very calm about all this, and I do not think that Bayern was too aggressive in his communication. He is focused on playing for Morocco.”

He continued: “I am lucky because I know (Bayern Munich coach Vincent) Kompany well. I think he realizes that the priority now is Morocco, but we will be very proud when it is done, and we want the best Moroccan players in the best clubs.”
