TV legend James Burrows is dead.
Among other things, he helped create “Skål” and has worked with series such as “Will & Grace” and “Frasier”.
Burrows was 85 years old.
James Burrows family confirms for People that the television icon is dead.
“We pay tribute to the extraordinary life and lasting legacy of James ‘Jimmy’ Burrows, who passed away today peacefully surrounded by his beloved family,” the family wrote in a statement to the newspaper.
They describe him as “one of the most influential and popular directors in television history”.
“As a legendary director, mentor and creative force, he helped shape generations of comedy and brought immeasurable joy to audiences worldwide.”
Co-creator of “Skål”
Burrows directed over 1,000 television episodes, including every episode of the original version of “Will & Grace.” In addition, he has worked on “Friends”, “The big bag theory”, “Frasier” and “Two and a half men”.
He also created the sitcom “Scål” together with brothers Glen and Les Charles.
In total, he has been awarded eleven Emmy statuettes.
